Refuge of Light is a faith-based organization focused on providing a safe place for female youth aging out of the foster care system. Our organization operates a Supervised Preparation for Independent Living home (SPIL Shared Housing) for female youth 18-25 years (older depending on the situation). Refuge of Light's safe home can house up to 5 residents in a shared housing setting. The program is designed to serve female youth with a history of being trafficked, or who are at risk of being trafficked. The age of individuals who reside in the home range from ages 18-25 years old. Residents are interviewed for the program, and accepted based on the individual's circumstances. A client's needs are determined through self-assessment and assistance from a Refuge of Light Case Manager. Individuals living in the home have support from staff and resident advisors. A Residential Advisor lives on the property as an added safety measure. Each resident focuses on planning for their future and meeting their own needs.
ROL continues advocacy work with minor girls & boys (17 yrs and under) through our BraveGirl/BraveHeart Mentoring programs in the Smith County Juvenile Detention Center.
