We know that 80 % of diseases today are diet related. We know that one in five children in Texas experience hunger. We also know that our teens spend an average of 9 hours a day watching screens which can lead to serious problems. When you support the Promise of Peace, POP), Gardens, you help create healthier lifestyles, food security, and screen free activities for our children and their families. That's the mere tip of the iceberg as food gardens are the solution to many of the problems that society faces today. Elizabeth Dry, our Founding Director spent decades learning how to reach, teach, and to lift up our children in public school & our communities.
We now have three food gardens/farms in Mineola. One serves food pantries, one is at the Middle School, and the Sunshine Acres Farm will teach paid youth interns as they engage in life changing experiences on the 14 acre farm. Sunshine Acres welcomes guests from places near and far and will serve guests with a variety of programs. The farm that will also serve the school cafeteria.
When you support the POP Gardens, you will be able to see your money grow as we post and document the journey on our blog at promiseofpeace.us
